I began drawing a lot as a child, favoring subjects such as trains and birds. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago is where I discovered stone lithography, where my subjects were often figures and lifelike situations. During the years following school, photography and figure drawing have surfaced as my passionate favorites. In both I enjoy showing a certain timelessness and the grace of the human form. I prefer to work in color, if time allows, and do realistic draftsmanship. For instance, in 1995, I made a life-size drawing in colored wax pencils of four women, each with different color hair (natural hair colors) and even though they could all be considered caucasian, I found that each one had a slightly different skin color. I placed them all in front of an outdoor waterfall. The final work measured 6 feet 5 inches tall and 3 feet wide. After nearly 40 years in retail advertising, I "retired" in 1994. I currently run a weekly Figure Drawing Workshop at the DuPage Art League in Wheaton, IL. I have exhibited my work in many public and private shows and have received awards and recognition for my work. I hope that you enjoy viewing my work as well.
