Local Artist Wins BEST OF BEST 2008 OAK BROOK, Il, MAY 18, 2008: Local artist, Gaylord Walter, won BEST OF SHOW 2008 at the Alliance of Fine Art Best of Best Art Show. The Best of the Best 2008 was held at the Mayslake Peabody estate in Oak Brook. This fine art group show is an exhibit of award winning art previously judged at the level of each fine art league/guild. In total, 98 artists participated with 111 entries. Mr. Walter’s entry, “Expressions” had previously won Best of Show at the DuPage Art League in Wheaton. The pencil drawing takes a closer look at the facial aspects of the artist, Gaylord Walter, through a series of self-portraits. Gaylord Walter is a local artist of note who received his BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1962. Since then, photography and figure drawing have surfaced as his passions. Since retiring from advertising in 1994, Gaylord has exhibited his work in public and private shows throughout DuPage County and won many awards in juried exhibitions.
